This handmade, 6 word memoir booklet depicts the experience and impact of getting my first tattoo. Created for my Type 2 class at UW-Milwaukee. In addition to creating a story in 3 spreads, we were challenged to incorporate 3 parameter shifts halfway through the project. I incorporated type as a tactile addition, type as a window, and imagery additions.
The Cover + Binding
I hand-sutured the book together using black fishing line to emulate stitches. “Healing Scars” is a tactile addition of vinyl transposed on splattered, black India ink.
90s rock
A grungy, collage aesthetic inspired by 90s Raygun magazine.
Taco trucks
Inspired by neon signs, the taco truck sign is a beacon of hope for late night escapades.
tall tales
Utilizing type as a window to partly conceal a pattern of scanned and collaged found painting patterns emulating flash tattoo sheets. Representative of the obscured truths found in a tall tale.
